If you want "Smaller" hacks as well, dear god I could be here for hours and hours, but in a quickfire fashion here are some (and I'm listing ones with ~30 or more stars, otherwise I really would be here forever, and I did get lazy on links but they're all easily found on ): That's just a sample and not counting other "classics" like SM64:The Green Stars or SM74 that IMO are still solid hacks but haven't aged gracefully.

Merges the original two versions (74 and 74EE) and updates them to modern standards. Honorable Mention: Super Mario 74 - Ten Years After. Very very VERY well done traditional hack. It's great and even closer to an actual Sm64 sequel than Star Road or Last Impact ever were IMO, AND it's very noobie friendly with a similar difficulty curve to Vanilla Sm64.)ĭespair Mario's Gambit 64 (120 stars): Another recently released hack. Super Mario and the Cursed Castles (This one should NOT be skipped. Super Mario 64 Land (By Kaze, and it's exactly what you'd expect from the name. Shining Stars 3: Sanctuary of the Star Comet (heavily influenced by Rayman) SM64 Shining Stars Repainted The original non-"Repainted" version sucked. Zelda OOT converted into a Sm64 game.Īnother Mario Adventure is an excellent community collab hack that's pretty highly recommended. SM64 Ocarina of Time (by Kaze), it's exactly what it sounds like. The Green Comet does an excellent job bringing in the SM Galaxy style Green stars into Vanilla Sm64.Īny of the Star Revenge series, although the best is likely Star Revenge 6.25: Luigi's Adventure DX or Star Revenge 3.5: Vacation of Cursed Dreams although you'd likely want to start with Star Revenge 0: Galaxy of Origins but frankly you can't go wrong with any of the entries IMO. The Recent " Mario's new Earth" is another great hack (I haven't played it all the way through yet tbh)
BANJO KAZOOIE ROM HACKING UPDATE
Star Road is of course an all time classic, especially with the recent update that implements Aglab2's parallel Cam For "Full Size" hacks ignoring Kaizo hacks (Yes a bunch of Kaizo hacks are well done and excellent hacks in their own right, but they're too alienating for noobies): I'm listing these in no particular order. Well, depends on what size hack you're looking for. The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link (Zelda: Ocarina of Time) The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie - The Jiggies of Time (Banjo-Kazooie) Paper Mario Master Quest + JR (Paper Mario) Overkart 4 DLC Pak (Mario Kart 64) (Mario Kart 64) Love to hear your recommendations in the comments!īest NES ROM Hacks? BANJO KAZOOIE ROM HACKING DOWNLOAD
The links are to the game page where you can download the patch. This way there is something new to play for everyone, regardless of your genre preferences! I thought it would be fun to create a list that would mainly focus on newer or recently updated ROM hacks, with one ROM hack per game. and Youtube were used as the source for this list, with the following criteria: So, time to create a new list of N64 ROM hacks well worth your time, updated for 2021! It's not too difficult and fans should take about 10-15 minutes to finish it.After the publication of my best NES & SNES hacks lists, there were many requests for an N64 list. If I had to rate the world on its difficulty, I'd say it's about the same level as Mumbo's Mountain. The world's main theme is an un-used version of Freezeezy Peak composed by the game's original composer, Grant Kirkhope. The level has you explore a large area outside, a cave off to the side, and you'll also go in the center house a few times. When you get the game going, you'll see the normal Rareware logo and Buzzbomb enemy, but right after that you'll immediately be put at the start of the level. Now I don't want to spoil too much, but I'll give you a quick preview of the game here.
